San Andreas, CA — Another successful Calaveras County Fair and Jumping Frog Jubilee came to a close on Sunday.
In the keynote event, the International Frog Jump, Kermit, entered by 19-year-old Justin Fasano of San Jose, was the top winner with a jump of 18 ft., 4 inches. It was just over three ft. behind the all-time record set by Rosie the Ribbiter, entered by Lee Guidici in 1986, with a jump of 21 ft., five inches.
The fair reports that Fasano is a third generation frog jumper, following his father Bob and grandfather Gene, who started the Gustine Frog Team 60 years ago. For having the top frog in the jump, Fasano received a $750 prize.
