Update: Jackknifed Big Rig Impacted Ebbetts Pass

Update at 8:18 am: The CHP reports that Highway 4 Ebbetts Pass is back open.

Update at 8 am: Caltrans has placed signs on both ends of Highway 4 Ebbetts Pass notifying travelers of the closure near Mosquito Lake. It is unclear when the jackknifed big rig truck will be removed so that the pass can reopen.

Original story posted at 6:36 am: Alpine County, CA — Highway 4 Ebbetts Pass is blocked this morning near Mosquito Lake.

The CHP reports that a 70,000-pound truck became jackknifed at around 1:30 am and crews have been putting together a plan to remove it. A tow truck is currently heading to the area.

Highway 4 Ebbetts Pass is temporarily blocked due to the situation. Travel with caution in the area.
