Update at 5:50 p.m.: The CHP reports that a 75-year-old Jamestown man was killed in the collision. His name is not being released pending notification of family. The collision happened around 2 p.m. near Avery Ranch Camp 9 Road, off Parrotts Ferry Road, in the Vallecito area. CHP spokesperson Eric Parsons relayed that the man was backing up a Jeep on an embankment when it rolled onto the driver’s side pinning the man. He succumbed to his injuries at the scene. There was also an injured golden retriever found at the crash site, which was treated and remains with animal control.
Original post at 3:53 p.m.: Calaveras County, CA — First responders are on the scene of a solo-vehicle crash on Camp 9 Road in Calaveras County, where one person has died.
The collision happened near Avery Ranch Camp 9 Road, off Parrotts Ferry Road, in the Vallecito area. The vehicle overturned on a steep embankment and landed on its side. There is no word on how many occupants were inside the vehicle, but one person was pronounced dead at the scene. There was also an injured dog found at the crash site and animal control has been called to the scene.
