Update: Solo-Vehicle Collision On HWY 4 In Calaveras County

Update at 12:15 p.m.: The CHP has cleared the scene of a solo-vehicle crash on Highway 4 in the Angels Camp area of Calaveras County.

The collision happened around 10:15 a.m. near the Vallecito Road intersection. The CHP reports that a motorcycle went off the roadway and down an embankment. The CHP reports major injuries in this crash. An air ambulance flew the rider from the scene for treatment of major injuries. Officers surveyed the scene to determine the cause, which remains under investigation.

Update at 11:15 a.m.: First responders remain on the scene of a motorcycle crash on Highway 4 near the Vallecito Road intersection in the Angels Camp area of Calaveras County. The CHP reports major injuries in this crash as the bike went off the roadway and down a 200-foot embankment, with an air ambulance headed to the scene. Additionally, they report damage to three metal posts of a steel cable fence along the roadway. The highway is open, but there is plenty of activity in the area, and travelers are asked to avoid the area if possible.
