Update 11/17/17 at 6am: The roadway has reopened.
Original story posted at 11/16/17 at 5:25pm: Yosemite, CA — Yosemite National Park officials report that Mother Nature has forced the closure of a major thoroughfare in the park.
El Portal Road, which is Highway 140, has been shut down from the park’s boundary to the Big Oak Flat Road junction. Park officials indicate that the closure comes as heavy rain has created small debris flows on the roadway making travel hazardous.
Park officials have no estimated time for reopening roadway but say road crews are monitoring the situation.
