Celebrating Shredding The End Of Tax Season

Murphys, CA – It is a perfect way to celebrate the end of tax season by shredding all that paperwork, and even better, the recycling was free.

Calaveras County residents dropped off boxes of documents and old electronics to be recycled at the 6th-annual Shred Fest shredding and e-waste collection event, recently organized and hosted by the Angels-Murphys Rotary Club. The organizers update that 117 cars and one “fully loaded forklift” brought 447 boxes of documents and 108 electronic items to the Murphys Creek Theatre parking lot. Shred City recycled over 9,000 pounds of paper this year, and its truck was filled within three hours.

Cal-Waste Recovery Systems donated bins and recycled the cardboard that was dropped off. Donations made at the event went to support the local Meals on Wheels program, with the Angels-Murphys Rotary Club generously matching the $2,700 in donations collected at the event.

Organizers advise residents to start collecting those items for next year’s event, which will be held at the same location on Saturday, April 19, 2025. For more information or questions, contact Sabrina Julian, c/o Angels-Murphys Rotary Club, at 209-890-7491.
