Nationally acclaimed storyteller BZ Smith & Peg Reza’s Blue Shoes Ukulele Orchestra invite everyone to listen for “the prancing and pawing of each little hoof” when they perform for Sonora’s 9th “Santa’s Gone Hawaiian! A Family Holiday Concert” of stories and song.
Both Smith and Reza were both Wednesday’s KVML “Newsmaker of the Day”.
Smith said, “Young and old will feel the magic in the air at this child-centered celebration of the season. Children 2 & under are free. Otherwise, the admission price is just $5. Also, we are asking people to bring a non-perishable food item for the Mother Lode Food Project.”
The Aronos Club, one of Sonora’s historic buildings, sits on the corner of Elkin & North Stewart Streets. The event will also offer a raffle of Family-Centered gifts. Plus sponsors will provide holiday treats & juice for all.
The event is a fund raiser for DKG’s Family Literacy projects, like the “Read to Me Program,” that supplies every new baby born in Tuolumne County with the gift of a new book. Also, on hand are members of the Mother Lode Storytelling Guild.
The event runs from 11 AM through 12:30 PM this Saturday. Tickets will be available at the door or purchased in advance at Mountain Bookshop in the Junction Shopping Center.
The “Newsmaker of the Day” is heard every weekday morning at 6:45, 7:45 and 8:45 on AM 1450 and FM 102.7 KVML.
