Calaveras County Installs Free Naloxone Kiosks

Calaveras, CA– Calaveras County Public Health has installed six naloxone kiosks across the county to provide no-cost access to the life-saving medication. This effort seeks to reduce opioid overdose deaths, following 20 emergency visits and four fatalities in the county in 2022, according to the California Department of Public Health.

“By equipping community members with no-cost naloxone and knowledge about overdose prevention, we can save lives and offer hope to those struggling with addiction,” said Dr. Rene Ramirez, Calaveras County Health Officer.

The kiosks are located at:

• Calaveras County Veteran’s Office, Valley Springs
• The Resource Connection, Mokelumne Hill
• West Point Outstation (Health and Human Services Agency)
• Dignity Health Family Medical Center, Copperopolis
• Sierra Hope, Angels Camp
• Ebbetts Pass Fire District, Arnold

Additional locations include Calaveras County Public Health and Health and Human Services offices. Naloxone, also known as Narcan, reverses opioid overdoses and restores breathing when administered via nasal spray. In case of overdose, call 911 immediately after administering naloxone.
