Sonora, CA– With the National Weather Service issuing a heat advisory, local health officials give tips on keeping kids and animals safe.
We reported here earlier regarding the current heat wave, with temperatures ranging from 95 to 105 degrees over the next couple of days.
“It is never safe to leave a toddler, disabled person, or pet locked in a car at any time, but especially in the extreme heat,” warn Tuolumne County Public Health officials.

That second rule is also noted for furry friends. Tuolumne County Animal Control officials remind the public that it can be deadly if pets are left unattended in a vehicle.
“Even with windows cracked, the car can become dangerously hot in minutes, and animals can die of heatstroke within 15 minutes,” stated Animal Control.
