Attack With Wrench And Ax Results In Sonora Man’s Arrest

Sonora, CA – A Sonora man was arrested after an argument over the victim’s stepdaughter, whom the suspect had been dating.

Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Deputies recently responded to the 15200 block of Mountain Lilly Road, south of Tuolumne and Standard roads, after a caller reported having an ax thrown at them. The victim told deputies that 36-year-old Chad Allan Koenig had an on-and-off-again dating relationship with his stepdaughter and came to the home to speak with her.

When the victim refused to get his stepdaughter, Koenig went to his pickup and came back with a 3/4-inch wrench in hand, according to sheriff’s officials.  The victim grabbed a garden hoe to defend himself, and Koenig returned to the truck and allegedly switched the wrench for an ax.

Wielding it over his head, Koenig swung the ax. It went flying, hitting the victim’s truck parked in the driveway, leaving a large dent,” relayed sheriff’s officials. Koenig then fled the scene. Sheriff’s officials say another person backed up the victim’s claims, stating they had witnessed the incident.

A short while later, deputies caught up with Koenig and questioned him. He was subsequently arrested for felony vandalism and misdemeanor brandishing a weapon other than a firearm.
