Investigation Into Explosion That Injured A Minor

Sonora, CA — The Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office has been investigating an incident from over the weekend in which a minor was injured in some type of explosion in the area of Peaceful Valley Road in East Sonora.

It happened at around 11:45 am on Saturday.

Details are limited, but when deputies arrived, they located materials consistent with manufacturing explosive devices. Bomb squad deputies from Calaveras and San Joaquin counties were called in to assist.

Tuolumne County Investigations Division Detectives were on the scene actively investigating the incident and determined that there was no threat to the public. The minor involved was flown to an out-of-county medical facility for the treatment of injuries.

No additional information has immediately been released as it is an ongoing investigation, including a specific address.
