Update: Parking Lot At Columbia State Park Reopens

Update at 12:04 pm: The Tuolumne County Sheriff’s office reports that the incident at Columbia State Park has been resolved and there is no threat to the community. The parking lot is back open. No further information is immediately available.

Original story posted at 10:27 am: Columbia, CA — A suspicious bag was located in the main parking lot at Columbia State Historic Park just before nine o’clock this morning.

The Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office reports the parking lot is completely closed, temporarily. The park, itself, is still open. The Sheriff’s Office is asking the community to avoid the area as an active investigation is underway.

It is not immediately clear what is inside the bag. We will pass along more information as it becomes available.
