Forest Firewood Permits Go On Sale Next Week

Sonora, CA – As the temperatures cool, it is a reminder that fall is here and time to stock up on wood for the fireplace.

Stanislaus National Forest will start offering firewood permits on Monday, October 28, through a new online E-Permit system, providing flexibility and convenience, or in person.

“Permits may be purchased by computer or mobile device at any time and eliminate traveling to your local Forest Service office,” advised forest officials.

Those wanting to buy the permit in person can get traditional firewood permits at local forest service offices or participating vendors. To purchase a firewood permit or learn more about permits and gathering firewood online, click here. STF will not come up as a choice on the link until Monday morning.

“The Forest Service will continue to refine and improve the quality of the online permit system and add additional special forest product permits in the future,” stated forest officials.

The deadline to get a permit is December 15.
