Sonora, CA – Highway 120 Tioga Pass in Yosemite National Park will temporarily close again this weekend due to snow.
As we reported here on Tuesday, park officials reopened Tioga Pass after shutting it down on Sunday due to snowy weather passing through the high country. Park officials have decided to temporarily close the pass again on Friday, November 1, at 6 p.m. due to snow in the forecast.
Caltrans manages Highway 108 Sonora Pass, which closed on Monday morning, and Highway 4 Ebbetts Pass that evening. Unlike the park, state road officials chose to extend those closures as more snow was forecast for this weekend in the Sierra Mountains. They stated that the two passes would reopen on Monday, November 4.
Park officials have not released a possible reopening date for Tioga Pass, as crews will need to assess the roadway for snow, debris, and damage before crews can do the cleanup work and reopen it again.
