Sonora, CA – A Sonora man was handcuffed after allegedly swinging a rake and a tree branch at an elderly victim.
Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Deputies were recently called to the 11700 block of Campo Seco Road, between Sleepy Hallow Road and Pradera Real Road in Sonora, for a report of a drunk man swinging a rake at an elderly woman. Once on the scene, she told them that 63-year-old Scott Wagner was intoxicated and threatening her.
A record check confirmed Wagner was on parole with a term indicating he is not to possess alcohol. Sheriff’s officials say that Wagner continued to drink alcohol, yelled obscenities, and refused deputies’ commands.
Over the next half hour, Wagner ignored and continued to refuse commands, drink more alcohol, and threaten to harm a K9 officer, according to sheriff’s officials, adding that eventually he laid down, and deputies were able to safely take him into custody.
During a parole search of Wagner’s residence, pepper spray was found, which he is prohibited from having. Deputies spoke to the elderly victim, who stated she had experienced numerous incidents where Wagner caused her mental and emotional suffering due to his intoxication, carrying weapons, and making threats.
Wagner was handcuffed for felony disorderly conduct while under the influence of alcohol, resisting arrest, and violation of parole, along with misdemeanor cruelty of a dependent elderly adult and unlawful possession of tear gas.
