Sonora, CA — Mother Lode Republican Congressman Tom McClintock has 60% of the vote, easily winning his re-election bid for the US House District Five seat, and Democratic challenger Mike Barkley has 40%.
McClintock says, “I’m very excited by the returns nationally, as well. I think it is quite likely that America has made a fundamental choice between freedom and socialism, and has chosen freedom again. I do believe that this is going to be remembered as one of the turning point elections in American history.”
In the regional Assembly District 8 race, which covers Tuolumne and most of Calaveras County, Republican David Tangipa has 52.6% and fellow Republican George Radanovich has 47.4%.
Tuolumne and Calaveras voters had different opinions. In Calaveras County, Radanovich has 55% and Tangipa has 44%. In Tuolumne County, Radanovich had 57% and Tangipa has 43%. Tangipa has his strongest support in the Fresno area.
In the Assembly District 9 race, covering areas like Copperopolis and La Grange, Republican incumbent Heath Flora has 70% and American Independent challenger Tami Nobriga has 30%.
In the northern Sierra House District 3 race, Republican incumbent Kevin Kiley has 57% and Democratic challenger Jessica Morse has 43%.
In the District 13 House race, centered around Merced, Republican incumbent John Duarte has 51.4% and former Democratic Congressman Adam Gray has 48.6%.
In the House District 9 race, covering Modesto, incumbent Democrat Josh Harder has 50.7% and Republican challenger Kevin Lincoln has 49.3%.
