Tuolumne, CA — Discussion about the 7th and 8th grade Connections Academy charter program at Summerville High School is on the board of trustees agenda this evening.
Clarke Broadcasting has received a couple of emails from concerned parents this morning regarding rumors circulating about the district potentially looking to end the charter program for those two grade levels.
Summerville Superintendent Michael Merrill clarifies, “This is a discussion item for our board to gather information about how we can better market our 7th and 8th grade program. We have no intentions of closing the 7th and 8th grade program, but we have seen a decline in interest and enrollment in the 7th and 8th grade program and we are seeking information from our community on the whys and the hows in terms of helping our specialty program to flourish.”
The Summerville Board meeting starts at 5 pm in the school’s library and the Connections Academy portion of the meeting starts at 6pm. Community members are invited to weigh in on the topic at the meeting.
The Connections Academy Visual and Performing Arts Academy has programs for 7-8 grade students and 9-12.
