CHP Releases Details After Three Injured In Head-on Crash In Columbia

Columbia, CA – The CHP has released details of a head-on crash in Columbia that injured three people last week.

The collision happened around 4:30 p.m. last Wednesday (11/6) on Parrotts Ferry Road, north of Porcina Way, where both vehicles went off the roadway down an embankment. The CHP reports that 44-year-old Stacy Askren of Avery was driving a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck southbound with two passengers, 21-year-old passenger Leslie Quashnick of Avery and a 16-year-old from Angels Camp. Meanwhile, coming in the opposite direction was 18-year-old Abigail Schuler of Murphy, driving a 2015 Subaru Crosstrex.

The CHP detailed, “For unknown reasons, Askren allowed her vehicle to drift to the left, over the double yellow lines, into the direct path of Schuler’s vehicle.  As a result, both vehicles crashed head-on and traveled off the east roadway edge of Parrotts Ferry Road.”

Askren and the 16-year-old passenger sustained minor injuries in the crash and were treated at the scene. Schuler also suffered minor injuries but was instead taken by ambulance to Adventist Health Sonora for treatment. Quashnick was uninjured. The CHP stated that alcohol or drugs are not suspected to be a factor in this crash.
