Sonora, CA– The Summerville Bears made a statement with their commanding 56-0 shutout against the Gustine Reds. After a scoreless first quarter, the Bears erupted in the second, scoring 35 unanswered points to establish firm control of the game. In the second half, the Bears added 7 points in the third quarter and 14 in the fourth to cap off an impressive performance.
The Sonora Wildcats delivered an equally impressive performance, beating the Calaveras Red Hawks with a 64-7 victory. Sonora set the tone early, amassing 28 points in the first quarter and another 22 in the second to head into halftime with a commanding 50-0 lead. Though the Wildcats didn’t score in the third quarter, they sealed the game with 14 points in the final period. The Red Hawks managed to break their silence in the fourth quarter with a touchdown, but it was too little, too late against a team that dominated both offensively and defensively from start to finish.
The Wildcats will face Woodland Christian and the Bears will face Big Valley Christian in the next round of CIF Sac-Joaquin football action.. Full game recaps will be provided on Saturday morning.
