Building Inspection Delays In Tuolumne County

Sonora, CA — The Tuolumne County Community Development Department reports that staffing limitations are impacting building inspection services.

Efforts are made to complete inspection requests within one day of being submitted, but recently there have been challenges in reaching the goal.

Community Development Director Quincy Yaley states, “Recently, we experienced a retirement in our inspection team, and while we are eager to fill this position, a county hiring freeze directed by the Board of Supervisors prevents us from doing so at this time. This means we have fewer inspectors available, which impacts our ability to meet all inspection requests as promptly as we strive to do. We want to assure you that we are doing everything possible to manage inspection demand, but under current conditions, some appointments may be delayed.”

Priority inspections include power restoration or urgent health and safety concerns.
