California Assembly GOP Leader Calls For Cooperation With President-elect Trump

Sacramento, CA– Assembly Republican Leader James Gallagher has penned an open letter to President-elect Donald Trump, congratulating him on his election victory and urging collaboration to address California’s pressing issues.

In the letter, Gallagher highlights the state’s struggles with devastating wildfires, a worsening housing crisis, rising crime, and soaring energy and gas prices. He emphasizes the need for federal support to ensure accountability and implement solutions that benefit Californians.

“From wildfires to energy costs to crime, California is facing serious problems. With a new Trump administration, California has a unique opportunity to make progress on these critical issues,” Gallagher said. “It’s time to come together to find real solutions that improve people’s lives.”

Gallagher criticized Governor Gavin Newsom’s call for a special session to “Trump-proof” California, calling it a “total political stunt” that fails to address the state’s challenges.

As Republican Leader in the California State Assembly, I am reaching out to extend my congratulations on your recent victory and to ask for your partnership in addressing the significant challenges facing California. Many Californians believe your leadership can help us tackle issues that have plagued California for too long.

California is grappling with a variety of problems, including devastating wildfires, an escalating housing crisis, rising crime, and unaffordable energy and gas prices. Additionally, there is a critical need to ensure swift accountability for criminals throughout the state. These issues require federal support, and I firmly believe that working together is the best way to deliver meaningful solutions for Californians.

While Governor Gavin Newsom wants to “Trump-proof” California, Legislative Republicans want to partner with you to pursue real solutions. We have been fighting tirelessly to fix California, but we need your support. Californians deserve real progress, not political showdowns that ultimately cost taxpayers and distract from the urgent needs of our state and nation.
