Update: Wet Weekend Ahead With More Mountain Snow Forecast

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for both Yosemite National Park (above the Valley floor) and the western slope of the northern Sierra Nevada, from Friday afternoon through Tuesday afternoon.

Heavy snow is forecast.

The snow levels on Friday afternoon will range around 6,000 to 7,000 feet, before lowering to around 4,500 to 5,500 feet over the weekend.

The total snow accumulations above the 7,000 foot elevation, will range from ten inches to four feet.

A brief break in snowfall will be possible from late Saturday afternoon into the overnight period with lighter snowfall amounts.

Winds could gust as high as fifty mph. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches.

Travel could be very difficult to impossible.
