Sonora, CA– Sonora High, the third seed in Division 6, faced top-seeded Bradshaw Christian, on Friday morning at Sac City College and secured a 23-20 victory.
The Wildcats came out strong, taking an early 7-0 lead in the first quarter and extending it to 10-7 by halftime behind a disciplined offensive effort. Sonora stayed ahead in a tightly contested third quarter, leading 16-14.
In the fourth, Sonora’s defense stepped up to contain Bradshaw Christian’s momentum as the Pride fought to overcome the deficit with a late touchdown. Despite their efforts, Bradshaw Christian’s final-quarter push fell just short as Sonora’s consistent playmaking sealed the win putting up 7 points with under 10 seconds left in the game.
.Sonora will move on to a State championship game whose time and location will be determined after the conclusion of all the weekend high school football games. The time of that game and a full recap of this one will be provided later on mymotherlode.com
