Jamestown, CA — The Supervisors voted 5-0 to award a $2.3 million contract to Sierra Mountain Construction to build a traffic light at the intersection of Highway 108/49 and 5th Avenue.
The company’s bid was below George Reed Inc., who proposed doing the work for $2.5. It was noted at today’s meeting that the project has been in the works for six years. District Five Supervisor Karl Rodefer made the motion to approve the contract, saying, “Since this is in my district, and I personally have been waiting a long time, I move on staff recommendation.”
A traffic study conducted in 2012 showed a need for a light at the intersection. It has been a spot of multiple vehicle accidents in recent years.
