Sonora, CA — Next month is when you can start the process of filing papers to become a candidate in races for school boards and special districts that will appear on the November ballot.
There will be seats open on the Tuolumne Utilities District, Groveland Community Services District, Twain Harte Community Services District, among the many others. Every school district will also have seats up for grabs.
Tuolumne County Clerk and Auditor Controller Debi Bautista says, “Monday July 16th through August 10th is the filing window for races if the incumbent is running.” It is then extended by a few days if the incumbent chooses not to run.
The election’s office has scheduled a free crash course on Tuesday, July 10 when prospective candidates, or people just interested in the process, can drop by and hear about items like the candidate filing process, ballot designation rules, how to file candidate statements, requesting voter information and important dates to remember. It will run from 5:30-7:30PM at 2 South Green Street in Sonora.
For more information on the class you can call Robert Bergstrom at 533-5964.
