Update: Forward Rate Stopped For Vegetation Fire In Calaveras County

Update at 6:45 p.m.: CAL Fire spokesperson Emily Kilgore reports that the flame’s forward rate of spread has been stopped at two acres for a grass fire in the Jenny Lind area of Calaveras County. The fire broke out in the 5500 block of Pleasant Oak Drive near Olive Orchard Road off Highway 26. Kilgore relays that all aircraft and incoming resources have been called off the scene. Ground crews will continue working towards containment and mopping up for the next couple of hours. What sparked the blaze is under investigation.

Original post at 6:20 p.m.: Jenny Lind, CA — Ground and air resources are battling a vegetation fire in Calaveras County.

CAL Fire details that the flames broke out in the 5500 block of Pleasant Oak Drive near Olive Orchard Road off Highway 26 in the Jenny Lind area. The fire is two acres in size and burning in grass, according to CAL Fire, which also indicates that one structure is threatened at this time. Further details will be posted as soon as new information comes into the news center.
