Update: HWY 4 Vegetation Fire Contained

Update at 5:30 p.m.: CAL Fire report the fire is contained at two acres. No cause has been determined. Further details on the blaze is below.

Update at 4:50 p.m.: Firefighters are making progress on a vegetation fire in Calaveras County along Highway 4 near Green Meadow Court and Locke Vineyards, between Douglas Flat and Murphys. CAL Fire spokesperson Lindy Shoff reports that the flame’s forward rate of spread has been stopped at about two-acres. All incoming resources have been called off the blaze. Shoff details that no structures were threatened. Resources on scene will work to fully contain the fire and mop up for the next couple of hours. She adds what ignited the fire is under investigation.

Original post at 4:30 p.m.: Murphys, CA — Columbia aircraft are up again this afternoon heading to a reported vegetation fire in Calaveras County.

CAL Fire reports the flames are along Highway 4 near Green Meadow Court and Locke Vineyards, between Douglas Flat and Murphys. There are no details on the blaze at this time or whether it is threateneing any structures. Further updates will be posted when additional information comes into the news center.
