Update: Fire Weather Watch Issued For The Mother Lode

The National Weather Service has issued a Fire Weather Watch for the Mother Lode and the Northern San Joaquin Valley, which is in effect from Friday morning through late Saturday night.

Temperatures will increase late this week as drying north winds develop across the region starting Friday. The combination of gusty winds and low humidity may result in critical fire weather conditions Friday into the weekend.

North winds of ten to twenty mph are likely with gusts up to thirty-five mph at times.

Daytime humidities are forecast to be in the single digits and teens. Afternoon minimum humidities could be as low as ten percent. Overnight recoveries as may be around thirty to forty percent.

Any fires that do develop, will likely spread rapidly.

A Fire Weather Watch means that critical fire weather conditions are forecast to occur.
