Supervisors To Take Further Action On Cannabis Tax Ballot Measure

Sonora, CA — The Tuolumne County Board of Supervisors will vote on approving a written argument in favor of Measure M, a local cannabis business tax measure that will be on the November ballot.

We reported earlier that the board voted 4-1 to move forward with the ballot measure that would allow for the creation of a taxing mechanism in the event that commercial cultivation is someday legal in the county. The supervisors will also appoint members of the board to make any minor changes, and prepare a written rebuttal, as necessary.

In addition, the supervisors will hear an appeal at 10:30am from a property owner who was cited for illegal cultivation of marijuana, and other code violations, on Italian Bar Road between Diamond Placer Circle and Star Ridge Road. The business is called “The Budfather Collective.”

At 1:30pm, the board will have a public hearing to allocate up to $175,000 for Food Bank Services, $50,000 for homeless services and $75,000 for Meals on Wheels from Community Development Block Grant Program Income Reuse Funds.

Tuesday’s meeting starts at 9am in the board meeting room in downtown Sonora.
