Update at 5:32pm: CAL Fire officials report that forward progress on a vegetation blaze that ignited just before 5 o’clock was stopped at just under an acre.
CAL Fire spokesperson Emily Kilgore notes that the fire, which was reported in the vicinity of Italian Bar and Mountain Misery roads west of Lyons Reservoir, temporarily threatened one structure and was located on forest lands.
Asked if response efforts are heavier due to the hot weather, she maintains that CAL Fire is staffed and responding normally for the time of year and that the goal remains to keep fires at under ten acres as much as possible.
Original Post at 5:15pm: Sonora, CA — Columbia air and ground resources are responding to a reported vegetation fire outside of Sierra Village.
According to CAL Fire, the location is in the vicinity of Italian Bar and Mountain Misery roads west of Lyons Reservoir. At this time we have no further details about the incident, which was called in around 5 p.m., and will provide more details when they come into the news center.
Fire resources are busy today not only fighting the 9,200-plus acre Ferguson Fire near El Portal in Yosemite but they have also been responding to reports of vehicle fires and other incidents that were quickly contained.
