Assessing The Impacts Of The Donnell Fire

Sonora, CA — This weekend’s Mother Lode Views will focus on the 36,400 acre Donnell Fire that ignited on August 1st in the Stanislaus National Forest.

The fire is still putting off smoke in the forest and it will take a major rain event to finally bring it to full containment. On this weekend’s Mother Lode Views, Deputy Stanislaus National Forest Fire Management Officer Clint Gould will talk about many of the challenges firefighters faced in fighting the blaze. In addition, Forest Service Soil Scientist Curtis Kvamme will speak about the recent BAER report put together that analyzes the impacts of the fire, and makes recommendations to prevent things like flooding and rockslides.

They will speak about things travelers need to keep in mind when heading up near the fire in the coming months.
