Local High School Football Teams Secure Playoff Bids

Sonora, CA — Both Sonora and Calaveras high schools have qualified for the CIF Sac Joaquin Section Football Playoffs.

The Sonora Wildcats were granted a first round bye in the Division V bracket. This past Friday evening the Wildcats claimed the Mother Lode League title outright with a 39-7 win over Summerville. The Wildcats finished the regular season with a 6-4 overall record and 5-0 in the Mother Lode League. The Wildcats (4th seed) will next be in action on November 9 and play the winner of this Friday night’s game between Foothill (5th seed) and Pioneer (12th seed).

Meanwhile, Calaveras High is the 6th seed in Division VI and will play 11th seeded Highlands this Friday evening. Calaveras High finished the regular season 6-4 overall and was second in the Mother Lode League at 4-1.
