Sonora, CA — Those who travel J-59 may need to consider an alternate route for now.
The CHP Merced Unit confirms that a section of the route, also known as La Grange Road, is under a hard closure between Fields Road and Highway 132 north of Snelling due to a possible bridge failure at Dry Creek.
Merced County officials say the crews closed a ten-mile stretch around 2 o’clock yesterday afternoon after seeing minor cracking in the bridge’s asphalt due to substructure dirt erosion. Currently, Public Works employees are evaluating the damage and related issues ahead of making the necessary repairs.
