Update: Another Sierra Nevada Winter Storm Watch

A series of winter storms will bring mountain snow, gusty winds and hazardous mountain travel to Northern California beginning this weekend and lasting into next week.

Snow will primarily occur over the Shasta County mountains and portions of the coastal range this weekend, before spreading into the Sierra Nevada on Sunday and Monday.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for the Sierra Nevada above 5,000 feet, from Monday morning through Wednesday morning.

Total snow accumulation above the 5,000 foot elevation, will range from five inches to five feet. The higher you go, the more the snow.

Significant reductions in visibility is expected. Travel will range from very difficult to impossible. Tree branches could fall as well.

A Winter Storm Watch means there is potential for significant snow, sleet or ice accumulations that may impact travel.
