Angels Camp, CA – An intoxicated man was arrested on New Year’s Day trying to drive a stolen golf cart from Angels Camp to the Sacramento area.
The CHP pulled over 46-year-old John Scott Vishion in the golf cart at 5am near Copperopolis and arrested him for DUI. He told the officer that he had taken the golf cart from a home in the Greenhorn Creek subdivision in Angels Camp, and planned to drive it back to his residence in Citrus Heights.
At 8:44am, the Angels Camp Police Department was notified that a golf cart had been stolen overnight on Smith Flat Road. The victim reported that someone walked into their garage, stole the golf cart, golf clubs and five bottles of champagne.
Vishion was then questioned by officers at the Calaveras County Jail, and the Police Department reports that he admitted to stealing the referenced items. Vishion was staying at the Wyndam Resort and said he walked away from the resort after getting into an argument with someone. He planned to drive the stolen golf cart back to his Sacramento area home, but only managed to make it approximately 13.5 miles.
Vishion faces charges of burglary, DUI, grand theft and possession of stolen property.
