Sonora, CA — A Jamestown father accused of killing his three month old daughter pled not guilty in a Tuolumne County Superior Court. 26 year old Kevin Michael Boehmer was charged with assault on a child under eight resulting in death at a motion hearing on Wednesday.
In December, Boehmer pled not guilty to assault on a child under the age of 8 resulting in coma/brain damage charges. However, after the little girl, Kalie Boehmer, was taken off life support on December 11th at Oakland Children’s Hospital and pronounced dead, Tuolumne County’s District Attorney asked for Wednesday’s motion hearing to amend those charges.
A judge approved that motion and also increasing Boehmer’s bail from $200,000 to a million dollars.
A preliminary hearing has already been set for February 6th at 1:15 a.m. in Department Four of Tuolumne County Superior Court. If convicted Boehmer faces a maximum sentence of life in prison with the possibility of parole after 25 years.
