Jamestown, CA – The hail and freezing rain only lasted about 15 minutes, but it wreaked havoc on one area highway. The accidents happened on Highway 120 near O’Byrnes Ferry Road just after noon.
The CHP reports an elderly man was taken by air ambulance to Modesto after the Honda Accord he was driving spun-off the road and went 75 feet down an embankment. The man’s condition is unknown.
Just minutes after that accident and about a half mile North on Highway 120, another car slid on the slick pavement. It smashed into another vehicle that had pulled over on the shoulder. The CHP says no one was injured in the second accident.
Caltrans was called in and put sand the highway.
