Community Visioning Week begins today and runs through Saturday in Sonora.
Sonora City Council Member Bill Canning was Wednesday’s KVML “Newsmaker of the Day”.
Visioning Week includes physical walking tours, workshops, group discussions and even the Sonora Chamber Mixer at the Opera Hall this evening.
The City of Sonora would like any and all of the residents to help and participate.
The state funded Community Revitalization Plan aims to address several concerns within the city. This is not limited to beautification, as all ideas will be heard, compiled and discussed. Ideas could include transportation, parking, buildings, signs, parks, logos, vegetation, etc.
Funded by a $225,000 Caltrans grant, the City is working with the Tuolumne County Transportation Council.
The plan encompasses all of Sonora including the historical downtown and the highway 108 and 49 corridors that lead into Sonora.
“We want to hear from the public including residents, workers, shoppers, tourists, high school students, as everyone’s input counts” said Canning. “We call this the “Vision Sonora” part of the plan. It is the future of the city.”
Canning credits Sonora City Administrator Tim Miller, and Tuolumne County Transportation Council Executive Director Darin Grossi for stepping up and implementing this project.
More information on the project and a list of all of this week’s activities can be found at http://www.visionsonora.info.
The “Newsmaker of the Day” is heard every weekday morning on AM 1450 KVML at 6:47, 7:47 and 8:47am.
