Sonora, CA — In a packed room, the Tuolumne County Planning Commission approves Maynords Recovery Center’s expansion of its sober living facilities. Last night the Commission voted unanimously to grant a conditional use permit to build a three bedroom home on 9.23 acres across from the recovery center on Cherokee Road. The home will be similar to the existing Dove Ridge Home and will house up to nine clients or staff.
A couple of neighbors had voiced safety concern about the expansion to county staff earlier, but last night the room was packed with supporter of the expansion. Some of them gave emotional and even tear-filled testimony in support of the new facility.
There is a ten day waiting period to issue the permit. In that time, the Commission’s decision can be appealed to the county board of supervisors. If that happens the supervisors would have the final say on approving the expansion.
