Attorney General Pushes California Gun Program

Sacramento, CA — California’s Attorney General is calling on the federal government to follow the state’s direction on gun control.

The Associated Press reports that AG Kamala Harris has sent a letter to Vice President Joe Biden encouraging the federal government to implement a program similar to the state’s “Armed Prohibited Persons System.” She claims it has led to the confiscation of more than 10,000 illegal weapons since its implementation in 2006.

The computer system identifies people who have purchased firearms, but are not allowed to own them. This includes convicted felons, and people that are mentally ill. California is the only state that has this type of computerized system.
