According to the National Weather Service, rain will return to northern California Wednesday afternoon and evening.
Rain totals for the Mother Lode will range from a quarter to three quarters of an inch.
Several inches of snow accumulation is expected in the Sierra Nevada above 6000 feet.
Snow levels will lower to around 4500 feet.
Another round of wet weather is forecast this weekend. That system will be colder with lower snow levels.
