Congressman Tom McClintock will hold a town-hall meeting tonight in Sonora.
McClintock was Wednesday’s KVML “Newsmaker of the Day”.
The District Four Congressman, who represents the Mother Lode, was forced to change his Sonora Town Hall meeting location. The event was originally scheduled to be held at the Sonora Opera Hall, but the hall is shut down due to flood damage.
The Town Hall Meeting will now be held at the Tuolumne County Board of Supervisors’ Chambers at 6 p.m. at 2 South Green Street in Sonora.
Most recently, the Republican Congressman took issue with HR 325: Carte Blanche Credit.
The measure passed the House by a 285-144 margin and it suspends the U.S. debt ceiling, at least through May 18.
McClintock stated, “I respect the sincerity of its supporters, but I must firmly dissent. This bill accommodates spending at ruinous levels far beyond the limits set by the House budget. It sets a terrible precedent by abolishing the debt limit for nearly four months, giving an unlimited credit card to this administration. Members will be stunned by the borrowing that this moratorium makes possible – certainly thousands of dollars of new debt heaped on every household in America.”
The “Newsmaker of the Day” is heard every weekday morning on AM 1450 KVML at 6:47, 7:47 and 8:47am.
