There are many big social events planned for this weekend.
The 27th annual Frank Salel Super Bowl Breakfast is this Sunday morning. Proceeds from the event put on by the Sonora 49er Rotary Club will help fund scholarships for graduating Sonora High seniors. The John Muir Building at the Mother Lode Fairgrounds will be decorated like a football field. For tickets and details read the news story “Start Sunday With Annual Super Bowl Breakfast“.
On Saturday the 31st Annual Regional Academic Decathlon Competition will be held at the Bret Harte High School in Angels Camp. Sixty-nine students from Bret Harte, Mountain Oak, Sonora, and Summerville high schools will compete. Testing is from 8:00am to 3:00pm and is not open to the public. The public can attend the Super Quiz followed by the awards ceremony begining at 3:15pm. For more information view the event listing.
Mother Lode Adventist Jr. Academy is hosting “An Evening in Venice” Lasange dinner. Also held on Saturday, Huckleberry Fiddler-Dave Rainwater will provide entertainment. Ticket details are posted in the event listing.
Calaveras County Jr. Livestock Boosters Dinner and Dance starts at 6pm at the Calaveras County Fairgrounds Mark Twain Hall. Beef-in-the-barrel dinner will be served, dancing and live country music will entertain. Tickets will not be sold at the door, for details view the event listing.
Copperopolis Lake Tulloch Lions Club fund raiser is also on Saturday starting at 5:30pm at Black Creek Park in Copperopolis. Details about the crab dinner are here.
Tuesday, February 12 is Mardi Gras but Ironstone is celebrating early. Reservations are required for this Saturday’s event which includes food, music and dancing. Details are available here.
Bingo and fun are back at the Senior Center in Sonora. Saturday afternoon starting at 11:30am, lunch is included with 13 games. The event benefits the Senior Lunch Program, details are listed under Senior Center Bingo.
