B.Z. Smith, local arts advocate and storyteller, was Friday’s KVML “Newsmaker of the Day”.
On Saturday (Feb 9th) people can “Learn The Simplicity of Storytelling”.
This is a Storytelling Training Workshop from 2PM to 4PM in the Modesto Library Auditorium at 1500 I St.
It is designed for early childhood education specialist and is free to the public. Pre-Registration is required. Call (209)558-7814 or email refquest@scfl.lib.ca.us.
Smith also spoke about the 30th Sonora’s 2nd Saturday ART NIGHT (tomorrow night) from 5-8pm.
The public is invited to enjoy live music, art, wine tasting, and delicious food while strolling the eight-block long arts and culture district of historic downtown Sonora.
Smith said that the cold winter weather has not kept the crowds away.
“People just move a little more quickly in the cold to gather in the warm indoors at the next venue,” Smith said. “There are now twenty-five participants and I am so pleased that this event is so wildly successful.”
According to Smith, in 2010 the arts had a direct $135 billion impact on the american economy.
Smith is passionate about arts and encourages local residents to get out and explore the local arts scene in Calaveras and Tuolumne County; from paintings to music to crafts to stage productions and “discover things about your community that you may have either never known about or appreciated before”.
