Sonora, CA — The Sonora Blockbuster video store is one of 300 that will be closing over the next couple of months.
The store, located on Sanguinetti Road, began its liquidation sale this morning. Blockbuster, which is owned by Dish Network, has been struggling to keep up with online competition, and the rise of video kiosks.
Workers at the Sonora store say that they expect to remain open through the first week of April, but the date could be moved up depending on how fast the inventory is sold. Blockbuster will still have around 500 stores open nationwide. In early 2011, the Angels Camp Blockbuster store was also closed.
