Land Management Expertise Wanted

Sacramento, CA — The Bureau of Land Management in is seeking public nominations for six open positions on its Central California District Resource Advisory Council. The council advises the BLM on public land issues for the Hollister, Mother Lode, Bakersfield and Bishop field offices.


BLM Spokesperson David Christy outlines the big issues the Council will deal with in the Mother Lode one of them is the Wild land urban interface project. Christy says, “that management probably is one of the biggest ones we’re facing followed closely by recreation demand. As more people move into the Foothills they want to find more places to play.”


The Council has 12 members that serve 3 year terms. There are six positions open. The categories are listed below:



“Each of the RACs lend their unique combination of geographic and resource expertise to inform the BLM’s decisions,” said Acting BLM Director Mike Pool. “The members of our RACs help our field offices by acting as sounding boards in all types of resource management issues. They are a tremendous resource for field managers across the West.”


The BLM will take nominations until March 1. Individuals can nominate themselves or others. Nominees must be residents of the state or states the RAC oversees. Nominations must be accompanied by reference letters of reference.
