Red Church Charity Continues

Sonora, CA — Outreach continues at the Red Church with a reopening community luncheon to be held March 19.

The St. James Anglican Church or “Red Church” in Sonora hosts a food pantry and community meal that were managed by the late Father Wolfgang Krismanits and his wife LaDonn on behalf of the Lighthouse Ministries. When a three vehicle accident took both their lives just after Thanksgiving, it took some time for those involved with the charity to formally reorganize. The board of Lighthouse Ministries, which has representatives from seven local churches has come together to carry on the mission to “Break the cycle of Poverty” and offer compassion and hope to others.

Rocky Wolf and his wife Kathleen are part of managing the effort to keep things going. Kathleen says, “We are carrying on the legacy and heart of Father Wolf and his wife.”

On March 19th there will be an open house from 10am to Noon and a lunch for the community with speakers from Noon to 1:00pm.

Rocky Wolf reports that in a given month they assist about 1,800 with food and other compassionate services and provide a weekly meal for a total of 500 a month. Rocky says they can use volunteers and donations can be sent to Lighthouse Ministries PO Box 3720 Sonora.

The food pantry is open Tuesdays and Fridays from 9:30am to Noon and the Tuesday dinner is at 5:30pm.
