Body Of Missing Young Girl Found In Knights Ferry Area

Knights Ferry, CA — The Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office reports that the body of five-year-old Matilda Ortiz has been recovered from the Stanislaus River.

We reported earlier that she was recreating with family members at the Knights Ferry Recreation area on Sunday afternoon when she slipped off a rock and fell into the water. The body was located by volunteers searching the river at around 4:45 this afternoon, and she was positively identified by family members. No additional information has immediately been released. Ortiz was from the community of Patterson.
