Events in the Motherlode this St. Patrick’s Day weekend include Murphys Irish Day and Bollywood Rites of Spring Auction, other fund raisers, and a Jamestown run.
Murphys Irish Day is held in the historic gold rush town of Murphys, celebration is held on the third Saturday in March in honor of the patron saint of Ireland. A pancake breakfast at the Congregational Church in Murphys begins at 10:00am. Festivities on Main Street include live entertainment, arts and craft vendors, pony rides, a wide variety of foods and beverages, and a raffle with a trip to Ireland as grand prize. The parade down Main Street begins at 11:00am. The parade features bagpipes, marching groups, horses and other animals, and classic cars. Irish Day is presented each year by the Murphys Business Association. There is no admission charge. Parking and shuttle service is available at Ironstone Vineyards on Six Mile Road.
The Sierra Waldorf School Rites of Spring Auction theme this year is Bollywood Nights. Bollywood is the informal term popularly used for the Hindi-language film industry based in Mumbai (formerly known as Bombay), Maharashtra, India. The event listing says, “Come dressed in your favorite Bollywood inspired threads and join the fun.” The event begins at 5:00pm at the Mother Lode Fairgrounds with a catered dinner and no host bar with music. There are over 300 items in the silent auction including many wonderful trips, dinners, hand crafted items and even a car in the Live Auction. Dancing begins at 9:00pm.

The Jamestown Run raises money for Jamestown School and registration starts at 7:00am on Saturday. The race is a two mile or 10k out and back certified course with moderate hills. Details about the course are in the event listing here.
