Brown Appoints Mele

Sonora, CA — Tuolumne County’s Sheriff will join a state public safety advisory board.

Governor Jerry Brown has appointed Jim Mele to the state’s 9-1-1 Advisory Board. The Governor appoints 11 people to the board, and the recommendations are made by groups such as the California State Sheriff’s Association, Fire Chiefs Association, and Police Chiefs Association. The state board looks at issues related to the 9-1-1 emergency telephone system, and helps with the overall coordination of law enforcement agencies.

Mele is a member of the California State Sheriff’s Association, the Tuolumne County Suicide Prevention Task Force, and Sonora Regional Medical Center’s Civic Advisory Board. The position does not pay any compensation, and does not impact his current role as Sheriff.
